Could Indiana Secure Massive Aircraft Complex?Posted: Updated:
State economic development leaders are exploring the possibility of landing a $10 billion Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) airplane manufacturing operation. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report Indiana is competing with more than a dozen other states to locate a facility that could employ up to 8,500 workers over the next decade. Boeing is expected to choose a site early next year. The plant would build Boeing 777X jets, which seat 400 passengers.
The Times reports Indiana officials have talked with leaders of a Chicago-based company on plans that could lead to the planes being built in Indiana.
Legislators in Missouri, another state vying for the facility, recently approved a $1.7 billion proposed incentive package.
