News Release

Westfield, IN — The City of Westfield is pleased to announce the first soccer tournament dates to be played at Grand Park Sports Campus in spring 2014. Although originally planned to open in April, demand for tournament dates at Grand Park has resulted in two college showcases to be scheduled in March, hosted by the Westfield Youth Soccer Association (WYSA).

In the Westfield Select Soccer Showcases, the senior teams of the Westfield Select Soccer Club, the competitive travel league of WYSA, will have the opportunity to play in front of college coaches from across the country. The Boys Showcase will be held March 14-16, and the Girls Showcase is scheduled for March 21 – 23. The club expects more than 50 teams to play in front of around 40 college coaches during the event. For registration information, please visit http://www.wysa.org/tournaments/2014-wssc-showcase.html.

“College showcases often result in college scholarships for qualified youth soccer players. By hosting our boys and girls college showcases at our new Grand Park home, we are able to give our players an opportunity to be evaluated in a state-of-the-art facility. Furthermore, events such as these will continue to establish the city of Westfield as the Amateur Sports Capital of the country,” said Mark Anderson, WYSA President.

WYSA has been working closely with the Indiana Soccer Association on tournaments and scheduling practices, travel games and recreation games for its roster of more than 2,000 local athletes. Additional tournaments will be announced as bids are awarded and event schedules are finalized.

Indiana Soccer Association is responsible for managing the event calendar for tournaments and games taking place on the soccer/multipurpose fields at Grand Park Sports Campus. Those interested in booking a tournament at Grand Park should contact Don Rawson, Senior Director of Operations and Business Development at (317) 829-0560 x103 or don@soccerindiana.org.
