The findings suggest some of the route's goals are inconsistent or inconclusive compared to the organization's 2040 Comprehensive Regional Plan regarding freight development.
Environmental impacts of the roadway were seen as largely inconsistent.
NIRPC's 2040 plan emphasizes job creation. The analysis says the “impact on access to employment is mixed.”
The full commission is expected to vote December 12 on including the Illiana Expressway in its 2040 Comprehensive Regional Plan. If the roadway is not approved, it could be in jeopardy of losing major federal funding.
