(NYSE: BERY) says the company plans to close five plants throughout the U.S. During a conference call to investors last week, Jon Rich said the moves will affect around 200 employees. The closures are part of an “aggressive” cost-reduction initiative triggered by what the company is calling continued weak economic activity.
Berry announced three of the five facilities that will be shut down. They are an engineered materials plant in Texas, a flexible packaging plant in Washington state and a rigid open top plant in Illinois.
