The leader of a fourth-generation Hoosier family business believes innovation, patience and attention to customers are the keys to the company's longevity. Indianapolis-based N.K. Hurst Co. is marking 75 years in business. President Rick Hurst says beans remain at the core of the business, but the company is also involved in sun tan lotion packaging and dry soup mixes. During an appearance on Inside INdiana Business Television, Hurst says educating a younger generation about the cost-effectiveness of cooking from scratch will be essential to the company's future. INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The N.K. Hurst Company (Hurst) is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2013. Family owned and operated since 1938, Hurst provides consumers across the U.S. with high quality packaged food products. Hurst's HamBeens 15 BEAN SOUP is the nation's #1 selling dry bean soup and can be found in grocery stores nationwide.
