Indy Parks Looking For Private Partners

The department has issued a Request for Proposals with objectives including modernizing equipment and creating “significant additional revenue.”

Indianapolis, Ind. — Indy Parks today released a Request for Proposals (RFP) that calls for ideas with the potential to transform and improve the quality of parks and park amenities. The broad request encourages both nonprofit and commercial organizations to formulate responses, specifically those that carry little-to-no financial risk for the city department.
“Many successful Indy Parks locations and attractions currently are the result of partnerships with private organizations,” said Indy Parks Director John Williams. “In the interest of continuing to provide high quality parks and green spaces, the department is actively pursuing new partnerships and creative ideas from a broad marketplace.”
Some successful partnership models that already exist within Indy Parks include its public golf courses, Major Taylor Velodrome and GoApe Treetop Adventure at Eagle Creek Park.
Key objectives of the RFP include:
• Efficient, effective management of Indy Parks properties
• Optimize utilization of Indy Parks assets
• Increase quality of service for Indy Parks users
• Modernize outdated facilities and equipment
• Ensure the long-term viability of the park system
• Support the economic development of the City of Indianapolis
• Provide new or better amenities to attract more park users
• Create significant additional revenue
Responses are due by noon, January 31, 2014.
