IMS Road Course Project Complete

Posted: Updated:

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway says a $5 million project to reconfigure its existing road course for the inaugural Grand Prix of Indianapolis is complete. The Speedway says the new layout will allow for more passing and competitive racing. Practice and qualifying for the Grand Prix of Indianapolis are set for Friday, May 9, with the race scheduled for Saturday, May 10. It will be televised on ABC. It will mark the first time the IndyCar Series has competed on the Speedway's road course.

IMS says the race will feature a standing start and will run clockwise, the opposite of the Indianapolis 500.
