A former mayor of Fort Wayne has been appointed to the city's redevelopment commission. Win Moses served as the head of the city from 1980-1987 and then as a state representative for two decades. He currently owns a manufactured home community in Fort Wayne. November 18, 2013

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry today announced that he has appointed Win Moses to serve on the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission.

Moses will replace Karl Bandemer. Bandemer now serves as deputy mayor for the City of Fort Wayne. Moses will begin his duties on the Redevelopment Commission in January.

Moses has had a distinguished career in government and business. He served on Fort Wayne City Council from 1972-1979. From 1980-1987, Moses was mayor of the City of Fort Wayne. He also served as a state representative in the Indiana House of Representatives from 1992-2012. Moses currently is the owner of Village of North Oak manufactured home community in Fort Wayne.

I look forward to having him continue to serve our City,” said Mayor Henry. “Win's experience and expertise in government and business will be a tremendous asset to the Redevelopment Commission. Our City is fortunate to have community leaders who volunteer their time and talents to serve and ensure that Fort Wayne continues to be a City that invests and makes a positive difference for citizens and businesses.”

The Redevelopment Commission promotes and implements opportunity projects, acting as a catalyst to develop blighted and other areas that have shown a cessation of growth and lack of development, especially in the downtown area. This is done through techniques including real estate acquisition, site preparation and/or providing public infrastructure to the site. Financing resources generally used are Tax Incremental Financing and Redevelopment General Obligation Bonds.
