Influential Insurance Newsletter Ends 40-Year Run

The Herald-Times in Bloomington reports Joseph Belth has published the final edition of The Insurance Forum. The 84-year old used $2,000 of his own money to begin the monthly publication in 1973. It grew to become a must-read for insurance executives throughout the U.S. and Canada. Belth was honored in 1990 with a George Polk award, which honors special achievements in journalism.
The newspaper reports Belth is stopping publication because of the demands of a monthly newsletter and a desire to focus on his memoirs.
He retired from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business in 1993 and remains professor emeritus of insurance.
