Funding to Support Two Ivy Tech Locations

LAFAYETTE – (November 14) Two gifts benefiting capital projects on Ivy Tech Community College’s Lafayette campus and the Frankfort site were announced last night at the Ivy Tech’s Evening on the Farm event. The annual dinner helps build awareness of the college’s agriculture program.
The Beck family and Beck’s Superior Hybrids were recognized for a $100,000 gift towards construction of the Ivy Tech-Frankfort site as well as to support the Intersection Connection campaign that will expand the Ivy Tech-Lafayette campus. The gift to the Lafayette campus acknowledges the importance of The Intersection Connection to the college’s agriculture program. In recognition of the gift, a classroom in the Bane Agriculture Technology building will be named for the Beck family.
According to Scott Beck, Vice President of Beck’s Superior Hybrids, both projects are important to their respective communities. “Our family is pleased to help Ivy Tech change lives throughout the Lafayette region,” says Beck. “These projects exemplify strong community partnerships and will serve generations of children, families, and adults.”
Beck's Hybrids is the largest family-owned, retail seed company in the United States. The firm’s President, Sonny Beck, was recently appointed to the Board of Trustees for Purdue University.
Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) awarded a $25,000 grant to the development of the Ivy Tech-Frankfort site. According to Matt Hartman, ADM Project Manager, the grant will help build the workforce in Clinton County and nearby counties.
“Agriculture is a very important sector in Clinton County,” says Hartman. “As a long-time member of Frankfort’s industrial park, ADM is pleased to support a project that is already transforming the community.”
ADM is one of the largest agricultural processors in the world. The company operates a soybean processing plant in Frankfort.
Ivy Tech Community College is the state's largest public postsecondary institution and the nation's largest singly accredited statewide community college system serving nearly 200,000 students annually.
