The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says nearly 32,000 people in Indiana have applied for health care coverage under the new health insurance exchange program. The department has released national figures for the first month of the enrollment period, which also show around 700 Hoosiers have actually selected a plan. More than 19,000 throughout the state were determined eligible to enroll in a plan on the marketplace in October. Nearly 8,000 could receive financial assistance with enrollment.

The first month of enrollment through HHS's healthcare.gov website was saddled with technical issues that delayed signups.
