Despite a challenging start, an Indianapolis-based technology and document management firm is experiencing rapid growth. Phoenix Data Corp. Chief Executive Officer Carol Curran says she was turned down for funding by almost 30 banks in 2001. The company now has offices in five other cities and multi-million dollar contracts with agencies including the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane. Chief Executive Officer Carol Curran discussed the company's growth on Inside INdiana Business Television. Curran says it was tough to find funding in 2001 because “nobody was doing anything” after the September 11 terrorist attacks.

The firm has contracts with multiple state agencies as well, including the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration, the Indiana State Department of Health and the Indiana Department of Revenue.

Phoenix Data specializes in converting data to electronic formats for government and military organizations. The company also provides services including call centers, project management and technical support. In addition to the Indianapolis headquarters, the firm has offices in Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, and Washington D.C.
