COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. – The Whitley County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is hosting an open house next week to celebrate the opening of the EDC Outpost, a co-working space located at 114 N Chauncey Street in Columbia City.
“We are pleased to formally open the doors for a co-working space that has been in development for most of the year,” said EDC president Alan Tio, “This project represents a collaboration among local partners to provide shared office space to meet the needs of EDC clients.”
The EDC Outpost is a flexible co-working space for EDC clients and service partners. It's a members-only workspace for entrepreneurs, small business owners, road warriors and service providers. The 746 sq. ft. office space is located adjacent to the offices of Myers Hockemeyer & McNagny LLP law firm in the former Post & Mail building, which the law firm partners redeveloped in 2011-12.

Partners in the EDC Outpost consist of the Columbia City Redevelopment Commission, Myers Hockemeyer & McNagny LLP, and the Whitley County Community Foundation, which also provided funding to support the EDC offering a session of the Kauffman Institute Ice House Entrepreneurship Program at the facility this fall.
The EDC Outpost has seven current member companies. Amenities offered to EDC Outpost members consist of worktables and chairs, a meeting area with tables and chairs, lounge area, wireless Internet, wireless printer and copier, and projector and whiteboard upon request.
