MOORESVILLE, Ind. - The Morgan County Economic Development Corporation announced today that the board has approved the hiring of Chelsey Soplanda Manns to be the new executive director of the corporation. Ms. Manns' first day in the office will be October 28.
"Our board was delighted with our success in finding someone who brings Chelsey's experience in both regional and private sector economic development organizations, as well as exposure to a variety of community approaches to economic development," said Chip Keller, vice chairman on the MCEDC and chair of the executive director search committee.
Manns will arrive at the Morgan County position following her employment with Banning Engineering, a central Indiana-based engineering and consulting firm that specializes in economic development projects. Prior to her work as Business Development Director at Banning, she worked as a project manager at the Indy Partnership, a nine-county regional economic development marketing organization that annually handles dozens of projects looking for locations in central Indiana.
Manns is active in the Indiana Economic Development Association (IEDA). She is a graduate of the University of Indianapolis, where she received a degree in finance.
"I have seen a great many successful economic development projects around Indiana in recent years, in my roles at both Banning and Indy Partnership," Manns said. "Success comes from good collaborative efforts by the local government and the community, where they invest to improve and make themselves destinations of choice for business growth. Morgan County appealed to me as a place to promote business growth because there are so many efforts underway to add to the attractiveness of the community as a home for business.
"I look forward to being a partner with the private sector and the public sector, and to making the Morgan County EDC bring more value to the community."
