Roy Budd helped found the partnership in 2005 and plans to stay on until March to groom his successor. He is married to Ball State University President Jo Ann Gora, who has announced her retirement from the school.

MUNCIE, Ind. – E. Roy Budd, President and CEO of Energize-ECI, Inc., announced that he will be leaving the regional economic development partnership which he co-founded with John Fisher, Bill Skinner, Doug Bakken and others in 2005. As one of the first regional economic development collaborations in the Midwest, Energize-ECI, Inc. has served as the prototype for the creation of many similar partnerships throughout the U.S. Mr. Budd will remain with Energize-ECI, Inc. until March 1, 2014, helping assist the new President/CEO who will begin duties in January.
A national search is now underway under the direction of the Energize-ECI, Inc. Board of Directors. Beginning March 1st, Mr. Budd will serve full-time as the President/CEO of the East Central Indiana Regional Planning District, a four-county planning organization which Budd co-founded as a subsidiary of Energize-ECI, Inc., but was spun off as an independent, government-funded not-for-profit in 2010. East Central Indiana Regional Planning District maintains offices at Muncie’s Innovation Connector.
Mr.Budd stated, “Having helped found Energize-ECI, Inc., I look forward to assisting the new President/CEO, and the Board of Directors advance the organization to new levels of success during this transition. We've been able to sharpen the global focus on the many advantages of East Central Indiana during the past 10 years. I look forward to building the East Central Indiana Regional Planning District, as we increase its impact on brownfield redevelopment and related activities.”
