A financial crunch could force a Columbus charter school to shut down at the end of the week. Our partners at The Republic report the International School of Columbus is facing a $250,000 deficit. The dire situation was revealed during a school board meeting Monday night.

The publication reports Board President Rich Wagner cited unexpected costs associated with plans for a new building, declining state funding after lower enrollment and “poor results from fundraising.”

ISC has been planning to renovate and move into a vacant church building that had been rezoned for the school. That approval took place in March.

The International School of Columbus was founded in 2009.
