What developers describe as the largest airport-based solar farm in North America will be commissioned Friday. The approximately $40 million project at Indianapolis International Airport includes more than 44-thousand solar panels. The IND Solar Farm at the Indianapolis International Airport will be commissioned on Friday, October 18, 2013. Project partners General Energy Solutions, Telamon Corporation, Johnson Melloh Solutions, Indianapolis Airport Authority and Indianapolis Power & Light Company, will make remarks announcing the commissioning of a 12.5 MW DC solar photovoltaic project. The 12.5 MW DC solar farm is North America’s largest airport based solar farm.

The solar farm project is a significant public-private partnership that includes the Indianapolis Airport Authority (IAA), the City of Indianapolis, and privately held businesses General Energy Solutions (GES), Telamon Corporation, Johnson Melloh Solutions and the Indianapolis Power & Light Company. The $35-$40 million dollar alternative energy project covers 75 acres of land, comprised of 44,128 solar panels.
