INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – September building permit reports indicate that in the Greater Indianapolis Nine-County area, Single-Family Building Permits increased 23 percent compared to September 2012 year-to-date. Reports indicate there have been 3,933 new home permits issued this year compared to 3,191 in 2012.
“I believe we are continuing to see pent-up demand,” says Steve Lains, CEO of the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis. “Individuals who have been sitting on the sidelines for the past five-to-seven years are beginning to feel confident about the economy and are ready to build. It's not dissimilar to Home-A-Rama. We brought the show back after a five-year hiatus because builders are beginning to feel confident that their products will sell, which happens to be true for all four of the Home-A-Rama homes,” says Lains.
In the Greater Indianapolis Nine-County region, the permits issued through September 2013 have created a total economic impact of $704,336,598 in local income, $159,896,068 in local taxes, and 11,925 local jobs, year to date.
