Subscribe NowA Warsaw-based orthopedics initiative is about to fall short in an attempt to secure $3.5 million from Lilly Endowment Inc. The Journal Gazette in Fort Wayne reports OrthoWorx faces a deadline today to raise the same amount as part of a dollar-for-dollar match from the Indianapolis-based nonprofit. Less than $1.5 million had been brought in, as of yesterday afternoon. Even though the organization will likely not be able to get the entire amount from the foundation, it will receive a match for money raised.
Through the Orthopedics Capital Foundation, Lilly Endowment recently gave $4 million to OrthoWorx without a required match.
OrthoWorx Board Member Suzie Light tells the publication falling short of the goal is not a failure, describing the effort as a challenge and pointing out that people have responded to the initiative.
