Carmel-based J.D. Byrider is planning a private hiring event for workers losing their jobs at another company's call center. The used car and finance company says it is working with Frontier Communications Corp. (Nasdaq: FTR) to offer opportunities to dozens of workers affected by recently-announced layoffs. News Release

CARMEL, Ind. – J.D. Byrider, the nation's largest used car and finance company, is working hand-in-hand with Frontier Communications to offer job opportunities to a majority of the staff members who were recently impacted at Frontier's Carmel location.

The new positions – part of J.D. Byrider’s collections call center – will support the expected growth of their corporate portfolio of dealerships. J.D. Byrider currently has 152 stores across the country and is continuing to expand.

With news of Frontier's staff changes in September, J.D. Byrider, headquartered in Carmel, connected with Frontier to co-host a private recruitment event for affected employees to provide information to potential candidates, and to staff for future growth. J.D. Byrider is in the process of growing their Carmel-based collections call center, so the timing was impeccable.

“It became apparent to us that Frontier's recent consolidation shift was an opportunity for us to target and engage great, local talent as we continue to grow,” said Brady Shepard, director of recruiting for J.D. Byrider. “We look forward to hosting this event.”

Frontier Communications, with regional headquarters in Fort Wayne, consolidated their Carmel collections staff and added sales and service consultants to its Fort Wayne call center. Frontier has been actively looking for new opportunities for impacted Carmel employees.

“Our partnership with J.D. Byrider to develop a job fair for affected Frontier employees is just one step we're taking to help minimize the impact,” said Andy Hoeppner, human resources director for Frontier Communications. “We'll keep working to make sure new doors are opening.”

The addition of these new employees complements the growth J.D. Byrider has experienced since its acquisition by Altamont Capital Partners in 2011. In 2013 alone, J.D. Byrider:

-Celebrated its one millionth customer in South Attleboro, Mass. A car was given away to the lucky customer.

-Opened eight new franchises. Currently, J.D. Byrider has 152 locations in 32 states.

-Completed a second asset-backed securitization for $121 million with a AA bond rating.

-Unveiled a new marketing campaign including new television commercials and a new interactive website where customers can select their preferred vehicle at a local dealership.

J.D. Byrider expects double-digit growth of new franchise dealerships and company-acquired dealerships in the upcoming year. This initiative with Frontier will help set the stage for unprecedented expansion.
