UIndy to Detail Digital Partnership
The University of Indianapolis is slated to announce a digital archiving agreement this afternoon. The school says the collaboration will create 20 jobs and involve its mayoral archives that date back to the 1960s. October 9, 2013

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – University of Indianapolis President Robert Manuel on Wednesday will announce a collaborative business agreement related to the digitization of UIndy's Mayoral Archives, a vast and valuable collection of historic materials detailing the inner workings of city government since the 1960s.
The relationship will create hands-on learning opportunities for UIndy students while bringing 20 new jobs and a new corporate presence to the city's Southside.
The announcement will take place at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday in the atrium of UIndy's Schwitzer Student Center, 1400 E. Hanna Ave.
Among the guest speakers joining Manuel will be:
-Richard Lugar, former senator and Indianapolis mayor, UIndy distinguished professor
-William Hudnut, former mayor of Indianapolis
-Pete Ward, chief operating officer, Indianapolis Colts
The announcement also will include the public release of archival materials related to the efforts that first brought the Colts to Indianapolis and established the city as a sports capital.
The event comes at the conclusion of the two-day inaugural Richard M. Fairbanks Symposium on Civic Leadership, presented by UIndy's Institute for Civic Leadership & Mayoral Archives, with sessions featuring state and local leaders continuing from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
