Indianapolis, Ind. — Lincoln College of Technology – Indianapolis celebrates Manufacturing Day 2013* with the inaugural launch of Lincoln’s Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machining & Manufacturing Program.

What:
A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place to inaugurate the new CNC Machining & Manufacturing training center. The ceremony will be followed by presentations from guest speakers. Attendees will also be invited to take part in campus tours; see the latest state-of-the-art CNC machines, donated to Lincoln by Hurco and view demonstrations of the CNC machines in action. Hors d’ oeuvres and refreshments will be served.

Terre Haute — Friday, October 4, 2013 at 9:00 AM, Mayor Duke Bennett will present a proclamation declaring Friday, October 4, 2013 Manufacturing Day in Terre Haute, Indiana. This special event will be held at Marion Manufacturing, located at 1126 West National Avenue
West Terre Haute, IN 47885.
Manufacturing Day is an annual event that occurs nationwide on the first Friday of October. It has been designed to expand knowledge about and improve general public perception of manufacturing careers and manufacturing’s value to the U.S. Economy.
In the Wabash Valley, manufacturing employs 17% of all workers. Careers in Manufacturing offer wages 36% above the region’s average wage rate. In fact, manufacturing’s mid-skill technicians, with two years or less of post-secondary education, earn higher lifetime earnings than many college graduates. Manufacturing has a multiplier effect on the U.S. economy in which every dollar in final sales of manufacturing goods adds $1.48 in economic output from other sectors of the economy.
In addition to the proclamation ceremony, the day will also mark the launch of the monthly N.E.A.T. Newsletter. This is an electronic newsletter that will introduce the public to local manufacturers and highlight career opportunities available in our area.

Also, following the proclamation ceremony, high school and middle school guidance counselors from the Vigo County School Corporation will be touring regional manufacturers to learn more about local careers in manufacturing.

Knox, Ind. — How much do you know about the successful industries and substantial opportunities available in Starke County? The Starke County Economic Development Foundation will host its Manufacturing Day this year on Thursday, Oct. 3, to benefit the further development of labor forces in Starke County. The event will be held at the Nancy Dembowski Community Center in Knox, Ind. from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for the first time to the general public. Following this event will be the Foundation’s 28th Annual Prospectus and Awards Celebration to honor local businesses and those who have contributed greatly to economic development in Starke County.
The Starke County Economic Development Foundation (SCEDF) is the primary entity for activity related to the creation, retention and reinvestment of resources that will increase the economic opportunities and improve the quality of life in Starke County. The Foundation has been partnering with our communities, the State of Indiana, and other economic development entities to be the leader in creating a business-friendly atmosphere for over 25 years now.
The Manufacturer’s day will feature booths of local manufacturing organizations set up around the room that will provide insights on the keys to success for their organizations. In doing so, participants will gain knowledge as to what each organization actually executes in daily operations, job opportunities available inside participating organizations, and what qualifications or education they must acquire to adequately complete their tasks in different skilled positions. Also, participants will learn first hand of what each employer looks for in possible candidates for employment in their organization. As a result, the event will allow participants to start taking the fundamental steps towards attaining a job in some area of skilled labor, thus, promoting long-term economic sustainability in Starke County.
