Nonprofit Loses Group Homes License
Dozens of residents with disabilities are being moved to new homes after a Gary-based organization lost a key state permit. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report ARC Northwest Indiana had its group home license revoked as a result of safety concerns. The move affects 90 people in nearly two dozen group homes in the region.
Some residents will be moved to other ARC facilities, while others are seeking assistance from different organizations or moving in with family and receiving ARC assistance.
An Indiana Family and Social Services Agency spokesman tells the Times many will be shifted to a newly-constructed facility in Fort Wayne.
The homes are licensed by the state through Medicaid.
