News Release

Bloomington, Ind. — Gretchen Gutman, a 20-year veteran of legislative and government policy, has joined Cook Group as vice president of public policy.

“The health care industry is constantly facing changes and issues at all levels of government policy,” said Dan Peterson, vice president of industry and government affairs for Cook Group. “Gretchen will be a tremendous addition to our government affairs efforts across the globe.”

Gutman most recently served as the associate vice-president for governmental relations at Ball State University. She spent eight years as the chief advisor to the Senate Finance Committee of the Indiana General Assembly and was a partner at the law firm Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP in Indianapolis, where she worked with Cook on state-government policy.

“I am excited to be joining an Indiana legend, with a team of talented employees and a deep commitment to producing innovative, leading health care products,” Gutman said. “In my new role, I look forward to sharing the Cook story of history and achievement with legislators and governmental bodies in the United States and abroad.”

Gutman graduated with a bachelor's in history and a master's in public affairs from Indiana University Bloomington. She earned her law degree from the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis.
