Hospital Issues Final BEACON Contract

VINCENNES, Ind. – After a year of construction, both inside and out of the hospital, Good Samaritan has reached a final contract with Hunt Construction Group, Inc. of $109 million for the BEACON Project. The project consists of a 200,000 square foot, five-story, 120-bed inpatient tower as well as a redesign of key health care service areas and upgrade of the hospitals critical engineering systems.
“When we started looking into construction companies, Hunt Construction’s experience, impressive resume and their cooperative efforts set them apart from everyone else,” said Rob McLin, President and CEO of Good Samaritan Hospital. “They have continuously proven themselves and I am happy we have made this final contract agreement so the BEACON Project can continue and we can further our progress in becoming a world-class facility.”
Hunt Construction of Indianapolis is the Construction Manager on the BEACON Project and owns all sub-contracts, 36 in total, which have all been bid and just recently awarded to various sub-contractors. Hunt has a notable resume having built the Indianapolis Colts home, Lucas Oil Stadium, the 1.5 million square-foot, $641 million USC Med Center in Los Angeles and have already demonstrated their experience and knowledge while working on the BEACON Project thus far.
Good Samaritan Hospital is working with BSA LifeSctructures, also out of Indianapolis, as the architect/engineer on the BEACON Project. As a trusted partner for the past 20 years, BSA LifeSctructures’ expertise and extensive knowledge of the hospital made them the clear choice for architectural/engineering services.

As part of the contract, firm dates have been set for the completion of several stages, including the final end date. The Support Service building will be complete on March 31, 2014; the Energy Center will be complete on April 30, 2014; Gibault Memorial will be complete June 30, 2015; the remodel of the Columbian Towers East and the demolition of the Memorial, Gibault and Willis buildings will be finished on December 31, 2016. “We are pleased to have reached a successful contract with Hunt Construction,” stated John Manning, Vice President of Behavioral Health and Special Projects. “We look forward to a long working relationship and cannot wait to see the final product.”
