The chief executive officer of the Indiana Economic Development Association says an event this week will allow the group to hear the “unvarnished truth” about what site selectors think about the state. Lee Lewellen says the Site Selectors Guild will discuss the global economy and what Indiana can do to become more attractive to businesses looking to re-locate or expand. The guild consists of site selectors from around the world representing industries including advanced manufacturing, life sciences and transportation.

Indianapolis, Ind. — Indiana Economic Development Association (IEDA), a statewide association of economic development professionals, will team with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) to host the Site Selectors Guild (Guild) Conference from September 24?]26 at the Westin in downtown Indianapolis. The conference is designed to enable state, local and regional economic development representatives as well as elected officials to mingle with site location consultants who assist companies with location decisions for new investment. Throughout the conference, Guild members will share their perspectives about what is happening in the global economy, how Indiana is doing and ways in which the state can become an even more competitive place in which to operate.

The Site Selectors Guild's membership is comprised of 26 international site location consultants. To be a member of the Guild, a site consultant must be nominated, vetted and must demonstrate a significant amount of location advisory experience. IEDA in partnership with IEDC will bring 14 of the 26 Guild Members to Indiana for the conference. Governor Pence will open the conference by welcoming the Guild to Indiana, “A State That Works.”

Tom Easterday, Executive Vice President of Subaru of Indiana, will serve as a keynote speaker, highlighting Subaru's continued investment in the state.

“This is a unique opportunity for Indiana's economic development and community leaders to learn from the experiences and perspectives of national site consultants while at the same time promoting the State of Indiana, its regions and communities,” said Alan Tio, President of the Indiana Economic Development Association. “We feel fortunate to host this large group of experts and to have the opportunity to help showcase all the great reasons to invest in Indiana to them.”

In order to bring the Guild to Indiana, IEDA and IEDC had widespread support from regional and local economic development partners and utilities throughout Indiana. Partners for the event include: Duke Energy, Indiana Michigan Power, Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana, Hoosier Energy, NIPSCO, Wabash Valley Power, Grant County Economic Growth Council, Indiana Municipal Power Agency, Hendricks County Economic Development Partnership, Indy Partnership, Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, Radius Indiana, South Central Indiana Economic Development, Vectren, Accelerate West Central Economic Development, Energize ECI, Northwest Economic Forum, North Central Indiana Economic Development Partnership, Valparaiso Economic Development, Michiana Partnership and Economic Development Corporation of Wayne County.
