An Indiana organization has been named one of the “Best Under the Radar Business Incubators” in the country by Entrepreneur Magazine. The Northeast Indiana Innovation Center says it has helped companies launch nearly 300 products.

The Northeast Indiana Innovation Center (NIIC) announced today that it has been named one of the top four “Best Under the Radar Business Incubators” in the country by Entrepreneur Magazine. The other three incubators to make the top four list included: High Tech Rochester in West Henrietta, NY, University of Central Florida Business Incubation Program in Orlando, FL and the Santa Fe Business Incubator in Santa Fe, NM.

“We are extremely honored and gratified by this recognition,” said Karl LaPan, NIIC President and CEO of the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center, “We have worked over 13 years to create one of the best-in-class incubators in the country, growing the economy of Northeast Indiana by helping people with great ideas build a business and businesses with a dream grow and accelerate.”

The NIIC was formed in 2000 by a group of community, government, economic development and education leaders led by a local cardiologist, Dr. Mike Mirro. Karl LaPan has been President and CEO of the NIIC since its inception. As one of the few ISO9001:2008 certified business & technology incubators, NIIC serves entrepreneurs, business owners, and existing businesses who want to launch or grow a company, product, or process in a high growth industry/sector. Current programs include business coaching, resident offices, co-working space, larger custom space in the emerging growth center, or building your own building on the Innovation Park campus. The Northeast Indiana Innovation Center has assisted over 100 companies commercialize over 100 patents and launch nearly 300 products into the marketplace.
