Builders Report Another Increase in Building Permits

Indianapolis, IN – August building permit reports indicate that in the Greater Indianapolis Nine-County area, Single-Family Building Permits increased 25 percent compared to August 2012 year-to-date. Reports indicate there have been 3,566 permits issued this year compared to 2,852 in 2012.
“It’s exciting to see the August numbers continue to increase over the 2012 numbers,” says Steve Lains, CEO of the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis. “Characteristically, August numbers tend to dip from June and July numbers because it’s typically a busy time of year for families. Seeing our numbers continue to rise is a strong indicator of a stable economy in the Greater Indianapolis area,” says Lains.
In the Greater Indianapolis Nine-County region, the permits issued through August 2013 have created a total economic impact of $638,612,842 in local income, $144,975,687 in local taxes, and 10,812 local jobs, year to date.
