News Release

Indianapolis, Ind. — The 500 Festival announced today that OneAmerica has renewed a multi-year partnership with the organization including title sponsorship of the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon through 2019.

OneAmerica has been a longtime supporter of the 500 Festival and several of its events and programs. In addition to the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon the extension includes sponsorship of the 500 Festival Memorial Service presented by Rolls Royce and the IPL 500 Festival Parade.

The upcoming 2014 half marathon race marks OneAmerica’s 10th year as the title sponsor. The 38th running of the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon will kick off in the streets of downtown Indianapolis on Saturday, May 3. With 35,000 participants, the Mini is the nation’s largest half-marathon – it’s a Hoosier favorite, with roughly 75 percent of the field from Indiana, but also a global attraction, with participants from 48 states and 13 countries. The race will be televised live on WISH-TV.

“OneAmerica is a tremendous partner,” said Bob Bryant, President and CEO, 500 Festival. “Their generous and longstanding partnership with the 500 Festival has a significant and lasting impact on the success and sustainability of the organization. We look forward to growing the positive impact the race has on the Indianapolis community and leveraging its success to promote health and fitness.”

More than 600 OneAmerica employees volunteer each year for the Mini-Marathon and do everything from manage packet pick-up to help set up the Post Race Party to pass out water at the Finish Line. In addition, since 1996, OneAmerica employees have manned the walking flag in the IPL 500 Festival Parade. The “Spirit of America” is a 30-foot by 70-foot version of Old Glory that is carried by 36 OneAmerica employees. The flag celebrates the lives of Hoosier heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice for this great nation. Also, OneAmerica has been a proud supporter for the 500 Festival Memorial Service, presented by Rolls Royce for more than 20 years.

“Our longtime relationship with the 500 Festival and our decade-long sponsorship of the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon have benefitted our company, our people, the city of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana,” said Dayton Molendorp, Chairman and CEO of OneAmerica. “It has truly created a win-win situation for everyone. We’re pleased and proud to have OneAmerica's name attached to the Mini-Marathon.”

Registration for the 2014 OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon is currently open. By registering before the November 30 Early Bird Deadline, participants can save $15. The race has sold out for the past 12 consecutive years. For more information or to make the commitment for 2014, visit www.IndyMini.com.
