Officials are slated to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on a $7.6 million locomotive maintenance facility in Greene County. The Indiana Rail Road Company says the operation replaces a century old building and houses more than 80 employees. September 9, 2013

News Release

JASONVILLE, Ind. – Indiana Congressman Larry Bucshon will join Indiana Rail Road Company (INRD) President and Chief Executive Officer Tom Hoback at a ribbon-cutting ceremony, noon (ET) Friday, Sept. 13, opening the railroad’s $7.6 million, state-of-the-art Locomotive Maintenance Facility near Jasonville, Ind.

INRD's new Locomotive Maintenance Facility – one of the largest private investments in Greene County history – replaces a cramped, 100-year-old engine house and is equipped with state-of-the-art environmental controls, an ergonomically-friendly and climate-controlled working environment for INRD's mechanical team, and an on-site parts warehouse.

The LMF is located at Hiawatha Yard, the operational hub of the INRD system located 70 miles southwest of Indianapolis and 25 miles southeast of Terre Haute. Hiawatha and the LMF together are home to more than 85 well-paying jobs.

The Indiana Rail Road Company is a privately-held, 500-mile railroad based in Indianapolis with a full-time staff of 185. The company hauls the equivalent of more than 800,000 truckloads of consumer, industrial and energy products each year.
