News Release

COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. - The Whitley County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) announced today the expansion of the EDC's Small Business & Entrepreneurship Initiative (SBEI) with the launch of the Ice House Entrepreneurship Program this month.

"We are pleased to expand our SBEI programming to bring national-level training and workshops to local small business owners and entrepreneurs," said EDC president Alan Tio, "The Small Business & Entrepreneurship Initiative continues to serve as a cornerstone of our economic development efforts."

The Ice House Entrepreneurship Program is a combination of online and in-person sessions focused on fundamental concepts of the entrepreneurial mindset. The program is based on Clifton Talbert's book "Who Owns the Ice House?" and features modern-day examples of individuals who have triumphed over hardship and adversity by embracing an entrepreneurial mindset.

"This series fills an important gap in our SBEI programming by preparing participants to think like entrepreneurs," said SBEI program manager Bruce Stach, "We are pleased with the response we have received so far from individuals involved in companies of many different sizes and stages of business."

Seats are still available for small business owners and entrepreneurs interested in the Ice House Entrepreneurship Program. The eight-week program will be facilitated by Ivy Tech instructor Jim Tolbert and will commence on Wednesday, September 11th. The program will continue every Wednesday through October 30th, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sessions will be held at the EDC Outpost facility at 114 N Chauncey Street in Columbia City (adjacent to Myers Hockemeyer McNagny LLP). Thanks to support from the Whitley County Community Foundation, participants will only be responsible for the costs of the course materials.

Please contact SBEI program manager Bruce Stach for more information about the Ice House Entrepreneurship Program.
