News Release

This fall, The Economic Club of Indiana will mark its 40th anniversary as one of Indy's leading series of luncheon forums. The Club’s 2013-2014 Season features an accomplished lineup of speakers, including the President of Purdue University; a former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury; the President of the American Red Cross; a renowned Harvard economist and the majority owner of the Cleveland Browns.

“Since its founding in 1974, The Economic Club of Indiana has become one of the nation’s premier series of forums for the discussion of important economic and public policy issues of the day,” said Deborah Daniels, President of The Economic Club of Indiana and Partner at Krieg DeVault, LLP. “In an effort to build on our club’s rich history and enhance its appeal among today’s millennial professionals, we’ve established a special $40 membership category this season for new members under the age of 40.”

The Club also plans to grow its social media presence by encouraging its luncheon attendees to share their ideas, observations and opinions in real-time through Twitter (#EconClubIN) and Facebook.

The Economic Club of Indiana’s 2013-2014 Season launches Friday, September 13, with a luncheon presentation by Mitch Daniels, President of Purdue University and former two-term Governor of Indiana. Bush. Through his years of service as CEO of the Hudson Institute and President of Eli Lilly and Company’s North American Pharmaceutical Operations, Daniels acquired the business acumen that would prove essential to his work in state government. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton and a law degree from Georgetown University. In his current role as President of Purdue University, Daniels is focused on such topics as university affordability, academic excellence and the relevance of traditional institutions of higher education in the 21st Century.
