Panel to Develop New School Accountability System
The Indiana House, Senate and Department of Education have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work with Governor Mike Pence on developing new designations of school performance. Pence says the Accountability System Review Panel will create a system that educators and families can “embrace with confidence.”

Statement From Indiana Governor Mike Pence
Indianapolis, Ind. — Governor Mike Pence today released the following statement regarding the establishment of the Accountability System Review Panel.
“Hoosiers know that accountability is essential to success in the classroom. And they deserve to be confident that our system of accountability for schools is fair and equitable.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to work with Senate President Pro Tempore David Long, Speaker Brian Bosma, and Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz to review and restore public confidence in our system of school accountability.
“The Accountability System Review Panel will make recommendations regarding revisions to the school accountability system, and I look forward to working together to create a fair system that families, community stakeholders, teachers and schools can embrace with confidence.”
