A Brazilian-style restaurant is set to open the first of three planned Indiana locations this fall. Tucanos Brazilian Grill says it plans to invest more than $7.5 million in the restaurants in Fort Wayne and central Indiana.

News Release

Fort Wayne, Ind. — This fall, Tucanos Brazilian Grill will strengthen its growing Midwest foothold by opening the first of three planned Indiana locations. The Fort Wayne restaurant – located in Jefferson Pointe, at 4130 W. Jefferson Blvd. – expects to open its doors in late September.

Following the launch in Fort Wayne, Tucanos will debut another eatery in Noblesville, Ind. in December, and plans to open a third location in central Indiana in 2014. Indiana will be only the second state with multiple locations, and the first state to host three Tucanos restaurants.

Tucanos' investment in Indiana not only shows the chain’s commitment to eastward expansion, it’s also more recognition that Indiana is a prime place to do business.

“Fort Wayne presents a great opportunity for Tucanos to continue to expand into the Midwest,” said Steve Oldham, CEO and founder of Tucanos. “This is a vibrant, growing community, and we look forward to growing alongside Fort Wayne.”

Once all three locations are fully open, Tucanos will create more than 350 jobs, including servers, hosts and management. By the end of the statewide project, Tucanos and the developers of the restaurant sites will have invested more than $7.5 million across the respective Indiana markets.

Tucanos will likely provide many Indiana diners their first taste of Rio de Janeiro-inspired Brazilian churrasco cuisine, which showcases a unique and extensive palette of local and international wood-grilled meats and salads. The affordably priced feast includes more than 15 different skewers of beef, pork, turkey, chicken, sausage, vegetables, and pineapple carved and served tableside. Guests also can explore more than 70 freshly prepared hot and cold dishes at the award-winning Salad Festival.

In addition to offering dishes that appeal to every palate, Tucanos also offers an approachable, family-friendly experience that includes free meals for children under 6 and a high-energy, casual dining atmosphere that Hoosiers of all ages will enjoy.

“We want to offer more than a meal — we want to offer our visitors the chance to escape the ordinary,” explained Joe Heeb, chief operating officer and co-founder. “It's about having fun and enjoying something new, and walking away from the table really confident that you’ve had a great dining experience for a good value.”

The d?cor of the restaurant balances sophistication with a zest for life, providing a welcoming, festive, yet refined ambience. Tucanos’ architectural aesthetic features a mix of festive colors, sharded tile waves, decorative fabrics and glass, mahogany and maple accents, custom granite counters, and tropical greenery. A covered patio off the dining room allows guests additional outdoor seating options.

Fort Wayne will be the ninth Tucanos location for the Denver-based company, which operates restaurants in Albuquerque, N.M.; Colorado Springs, Colo.; Boise, Idaho; Provo and Salt Lake City, Utah; St. Charles, Mo.; Newport News, Va.; and Sugar Land, Texas.
