Zionsville, Ind. — The Town of Zionsville, IN has been announced as the recipient of the 2013 Google eCity Award for the state of Indiana. The annual Google eCity Awards recognize the strongest online business community in each U.S. state.
The town was described via the Google eCity Awards page as, “A delightful destination in Indiana, Zionsville is known for its scenic downtown. Businesses here are using the web to virtually connect with travelers, prospects and current customers who can surf before they buy.”
According to Google, the awarded cities' businesses are using the web to find new customers, connect with existing customers and fuel their local economies. Across the country, businesses that are online expect to grow 40% faster than those not online. Google estimates $714 million of economic activity for 25,000 Indiana businesses, web publishers and non-profits in 2012.
The eCity Awards highlight Google's local economic impact in all 50 U.S. states, based on three core parts of their business: Google Search and AdWords, AdSense, and Google Grants.
“Speaking on behalf of the Zionsville business community, we are honored to be named for this prestigious award.” said Zionsville Town Council President, Jeff Papa.
