The Indiana Recycling Coalition says Carey Hamilton has decided to remain executive director, less than three weeks after announcing her initial intention to step down. The organization says a new leadership structure will allow Carey to focus on policy and development.

Indianapolis, Ind. — On the heels of the recent announcement that IRC Executive Director Carey Hamilton intended to step down, the IRC Executive Committee chose to revisit its structure and vision and now has a new and exciting announcement to share. Because the IRC has enjoyed such dynamic growth in the past five years under Carey's leadership, we are delighted to report that Carey will continue to serve as our Executive Director. We are creating the position of Director of Administration and Programs so that Carey can focus her energy and talents on policy and profile and development. This new structure positions the IRC to take its mission to the next level.

“While reviewing the scope of the Executive position we realized that the role had taken on significant administrative and programmatic duties as the organization has grown, reducing time available for strategic leadership work,” stated IRC Board President James Parker.

“I am thrilled that a more streamlined leadership position is in place. I am bullish about the future of the IRC and our important work to advance recycling via state policy, programs in schools and communities and public education. I want to thank the board for once again taking steps to strengthen this dynamic organization,” said Ms. Hamilton.
