Our partners at The Herald Bulletin report Ivy Tech's ongoing plans for the campus involve a location near I-69. The publication says the city has been working since early spring to get the school to think about looking elsewhere.
Anderson is offering two alternatives. One is in a former shopping center and the other is a location Mayor Kevin Smith says would save Ivy Tech on development costs, compared to the present plan.
The city estimates it would cost more than $8 million for the location close to the interstate, while the paper reports Ivy Tech East Central Region Chancellor Andy Bowne believes infrastructure costs would total about $1 million.
He adds that final state approval is slated for the end of next month if the school is to be open by its 2015 target.
