A groundbreaking will take place this week for a more than $16 million senior health care expansion in Goshen. Greencroft Communities says a new 64-bed facility will be based on a “neighborhood model,” instead of the older “hospital-like” approach of many skilled nursing care operations. August 20, 2013

News Release

Greencroft Goshen will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for its new two-story 64-bed Healthcare facility on Thursday, August 22 at 4:30 p.m. by the Healthcare south parking lot (parking will be off of 15th Street). Guests will include Rep. Jackie Walorski and Beth Donnelly Barrett from Sen. Donnelly’s office as well as Goshen Mayor Allan Kauffman. Light refreshments will be served afterwards.

The new facility will feature a “neighborhood” model, with four 16-bed households designed to convey a strong sense of home rather than the older hospital-like long-hallways feel of much skilled nursing care. Each household will have its own entrance, living room area, dining room and sitting areas, along with private rooms and bathrooms.

The new building will be constructed in the current Healthcare south parking lot and connect to the existing building. The construction project also includes a new entrance to the entire Healthcare facility with a “Main Street” in the current building featuring a welcome center, fitness room, gift shop, beauty/barber shop, meeting rooms and sitting spaces.

The new Healthcare building embodies the next step in the transformation of the lives of those who will be receiving healthcare services at Greencroft Goshen for decades to come.
