BEDFORD, Ind. – Becky Skillman announces that Radius Indiana has formed and launched a Tourism Development Advisory Council, which held it's first meeting Wednesday, August 7.
The council is being chaired by Kevin Manley, Executive Director of the Dubois County Visitors Center and Tourism Commission. Those serving on the council include Mark Newman, Executive Director of the Indiana Office of Tourism, Chris Leininger, Chief Operating Officer of French Lick Resort, Dan Bortner, Director, State Parks & Reservoirs, DNR, Leslie Townsend, President of Historic Southern Indiana, Amy Haag, Project Coordinator at the Daviess County Economic Development Foundation, Brianne Jerrels, Administrative Assistant of the Greene County Economic Development Corporation, Eric Marvin, Executive Director of the Lawrence County Tourism Commission, Misty Weisensteiner, Executive Director of the Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Bev Minto, representing the Southern Indiana Regional Marketing Cooperative.
The core objective of the Radius Tourism Development Advisory Council will be to brand and promote the region with a cohesive voice as a tourism destination-of-choice. The council will first focus on four goals.
First, it will create a tourism asset inventory of Crawford, Daviess, Dubois, Greene, Lawrence, Martin, Orange, and Washington counties. 2) Assist existing attractions to thrive and grow 3) To serve as a vetting agent for new tourist attraction proposals and projects within the Radius Region, advising the Regional Impact Fund committee as projects are submitted for funding. 4) Build tourism opportunities along new I-69 corridor.
“Each of the Radius Indiana advisory councils, including the Defense and National Security Advisory Council, Workforce Advisory Council, and the Tourism Development Advisory Council, are comprised of professionals currently working within each sector to help us plan and prepare for growth within the Radius region,” said Becky Skillman, President/CEO of Radius Indiana. “As a $700 billion industry, tourism is the fastest growing industry in every state throughout the U.S. The opportunities are endless.”
