News Release

Indianapolis, Ind. — People looking for jobs on the Indianapolis west side have another opportunity when Walmart conducts its second job fair Aug. 8 from noon to 4 p.m. at Lakeview Church, 47 Beachway Drive, between Rockville Rd. and W. 10th St., off of west I-465.

This job fair will include representatives from the Avon, Brownsburg, Lafayette Road Supercenters and the soon-to-open W. 10th St. Walmart Neighborhood Market.

“The great interest shown at our first job fair earlier this month demonstrated the value people on the west side of Indianapolis see in working for Walmart. This second job fair will present even more career opportunities at our other stores,” said Katie Mellen, the new Neighborhood Market’s manager.

The first job fair, which was exclusively for the new Neighborhood Market, registered more than 260 applicants.

A Neighborhood Market is a smaller Walmart store which offers a convenient way to pick up fresh groceries and household items at the same every day low prices. Each Walmart Neighborhood Market is about 40,000 square feet.

Through Walmart's Veterans Welcome Home Commitment, the company will offer a job to any qualified veteran who has been honorably discharged within the past 12 months. Interested veterans may find out more at http://walmartcareerswithamission.com. Veterans must be within 12 months of active duty and meet Walmart’s standard hiring criteria.

Walmart provides benefits programs for eligible full- and part-time associates. For example, the company provides a variety of affordable health and well-being benefits including health-care coverage with no lifetime maximum. Walmart also offers eligible associates matching 401(k) contributions of up to six percent of pay, discounts on general merchandise, an Associate Stock Purchase Program and company-paid life insurance. Additionally, eligible associates receive a quarterly incentive based on store performance.

In addition to the community job fair, a temporary hiring center has opened in the Walmart store at 3221 W. 86th St., Indianapolis. Applications are accepted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Interested applicants may also apply online at http://careers.walmart.com.
