Ivy Tech Community College Northeast has named finalists for its 2013 New Venture Competition. Proposals include a combat veteran-designed clothing line, camping gear rental business and a portrait studio. August 1, 2013

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Ivy Tech Community College Northeast has announced the three finalists of its 2013 New Venture Competition. The competition, in its third year, rewards the student with the best business plan with at least $20,000 in start-up money.

The finalists and their plans are as follows:

-Robert Bibbo, whose American Combat Veteran Clothing is a clothing line designed and made by combat and disabled veterans. “The purpose of this business is to get as many of the nation’s disabled and combat veterans back to work as possible,” Bibbo writes in his business summary. Bibbo is from Fort Wayne and studies Computer Information Technology.

-Faith Maslonka, whose Outdoor Gear Fitters allows people to rent camping gear. Campers can choose Gear Pacs to fit their needs, be they novice or expert campers. “Our innovative website and fair pricing make an otherwise costly expense affordable and convenient,” she writes in her business summary. Maslonka is from Anchorage, Ala., and is a General Studies major.

-Adara Fath, whose photography business Addie Fath Photography specializes in lifestyle portraits. “My service delivers a gift to preserve people in our lives, to share our stories throughout time,” she writes in her business summary. Fath is from Fort Wayne and studies Business Administration.

“Our student-entrepreneurs presented a wide range of business models, demonstrating creativity and excellent marketing research,” says Jim Tolbert, who heads the competition. “The finalists explained their competitive advantage and breakeven analysis, with a strong financial plan, indicating they are ready to launch their new venture.”

A winner will be announced at the New Venture Awards Dinner at 5 p.m. Sept. 19 on Ivy Tech's Coliseum Campus, 3800 N. Anthony Blvd., in room CC1640. The awards banquet will feature a presentation by the finalists.
