News Release

INDIANAPOLIS (July 29, 2013) "We Are City SUMMIT", presented by Indianapolis Downtown, Inc., will reemerge this summer with an eclectic mix of national and local speakers who work and play in the trenches and front lines of city-building. The second annual SUMMIT is designed to amplify city improvement conversations throughout Indianapolis and challenges local leaders to think innovatively and act boldly. The half-day conference, scheduled for August 22, will celebrate smart, unique and bold city-building with discussions, presentations and interactive projects.

"The We Are City SUMMIT imports new ideas and methods for city-building to the Indianapolis community and vice versa," said We Are City Co-Founder John Beeler. "By combining and juxtaposing different ideas and methods, we think we can bring new insights to Indianapolis' challenges such as sustainability, education, quality of design and social justice."

Individuals with an interest in creative city-building are encouraged to register now for the SUMMIT. Attendees will engage in interactive projects, touching specifically on how central planning efforts converge with subterranean place-making activities such as urban farming, arts and culture, pop-up arcades, and more.
