The publisher of the Journal & Courier in Lafayette is retiring. Gary Suisman has been at the newspaper since 2000. Parent company Gannett Co. Inc. (NYSE: GCI) is not planning to hire a new publisher for the paper. Some of those responsibilities will be handled by the executive editor and advertising director.

Suisman has spent three decades with Gannett.

He is leaving the company for personal reasons, including the ability to spend more time with his parents.

Suisman plans to stay in the Greater Lafayette area.
