News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Twenty-five young professionals will become more effective community leaders as they learn about the needs and issues facing central Indiana as members of Class XXXVIII of the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series (SKL).

The series each year selects 25 individuals to participate in this highly competitive program, which seeks to expand the ranks of community leaders by teaching and motivating members to address the needs of the Indianapolis region.

Class members are chosen because of their significant community involvement and professional achievement; their demonstrated interest in community issues; a record of participation and achievement in voluntary community activities; and their willingness to expand their leadership role in the community.

"With their application to become members of this SKL class, these young professionals expressed their passion for making central Indiana the best it can be and making themselves the best leaders they can be," said Linda Kirby, SKL Program Director. "Our community is fortunate to have the services of this new generation of leaders, and we're confident that the class members will benefit from participating in this proven program."

Sam Odle has been named the Moderator for SKL Class XXXVIII. Sam is currently a Senior Policy Adviser for Bose Public Affairs Group, former COO of IU Health and CEO of both Methodist Hospital and University Hospital, and current IPS Board Member and Board Chair for the United Way of Central Indiana. To ensure that the series is timely and topical, each class's moderator identifies aspects of broad economic and societal issues that are specific to central Indiana for the class to study.

"I am honored to be the moderator of SKL's 38th class, which allows me to personally give back to the community with gratitude for the lessons I've learned throughout my career," said Odle. "This class is being organized at a very critical time in our community. We can point to our many successes and be proud, but there is also a growing concern about what we, as a community, must do to reduce the chronic problems our community faces. These SKL participants are some of the future leaders that will have to find the answers."
