INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Nathan (Nate) S. Davis has been named Superintendent, MSD of Decatur Township, pending Superintendent contract approval.

Mr. Davis succeeds Dr. Debbie Sullivan, who is retiring after her 28-year career serving Decatur

Township students and families.

Since joining Decatur Township Schools in 2006, Mr. Davis has held several administrative leadership positions. He currently serves as Assistant Superintendent. Prior to beginning his career at Decatur Township, Mr. Davis served as a teacher in both Lawrence Township and Southern Hancock Community Schools, and served as an administrator in Warren Township. Mr. Davis is dedicated to 21st century learning, as well as preparing appropriate learning pathways for every student. He believes in developing compassionate leadership in others, while possessing the relentless drive to close the achievement gap for Decatur township students and helping each community member realize the potential they have for success.

Mr. Davis holds a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from Indiana State University, Master's degree from Ball State University in Educational Leadership and Supervision, and an

Education Specialist Degree in School Superintendency from Indiana State University. Mr. Davis was selected after an extensive process undertaken by the Decatur Township School Board, a process which included gaining community and staff input, a nationwide open application search, and in-depth interview process.

Nate and his wife, Jodi, an elementary school teacher, have two daughters, Olivia and Avery.

Upon Mr. Davis' selection, School Board President Dale Henson stated, “As a Board, we worked to ensure we received community and employee input as we made this significant leadership decision. We were excited by the number and excellent qualifications of all applicants for this position. After a very thorough process, we are equally as excited to announce Nate Davis as our new MSD of Decatur Township Superintendent. During the changing climate of school accountability, funding sources, and student family choice, we look forward to Nate's leadership as we excel in preparing our students for success in college and future careers.”

MSD of Decatur Township is located on the southwest side of Indianapolis, one of 11 school

districts in Marion County. Decatur Township serves more than 6,300 students and has become

known for innovation in providing learning options for students based on each student’s best

learning style and interests.
