News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Heartland Truly Moving Pictures is pleased to announce it has received a $75,000 grant from the Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation (AWCCF). Heartland will use this general operating award to support its expanded year round programming through the Heartland Roadshow, as well as sustain the high quality programming at the annual Heartland Film Festival.

The Heartland Roadshow brings Festival films to partners through programs like The Great American Songbook Movie Series at The Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts, Indiana Black Expo Film Festival, Best of the Fest at The Historic Artcraft Theatre, Charley Creek Arts Fest, and the JCC for events like Indy Talks and the Ann Katz Festival of Books. In 2013 the Roadshow is on track to reach an audience of 10,000 outside of the annual Festival.

Strong community outreach through the Roadshow draws audiences to the annual Heartland Film Festival. This year the 22nd annual Festival takes place October 17 – 26 and will showcase independent international films and filmmakers from around the world. Thanks to being a qualifying festival for the Annual Academy Awards in the Short Films Category, filmmaker submissions from around the world continue to increase, promising the best of the best will be screened at Heartland.

“This grant continues a great history of support from AWCCF, and speaks to the passion and partnership they provide Heartland around our mission to inspire filmmakers and audiences through the transformative power of film,” says Heartland COO, Stuart Lowry. “We are pleased and proud of this generous gift, and look forward to elevating and showcasing the art of film in Indianapolis as we welcome filmmakers from around the world each year to the Heartland Film Festival.”

This award from the AWCCF joins support from Arts Council of Indianapolis and the Indiana Arts Commission. Together these generous funders are strengthening arts and culture in Indianapolis by ensuring that Heartland continues to bring world class film programming to the city.
