FORT WAYNE, Ind. – A much-anticipated tuition reciprocity agreement for Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) has recently been approved. Indiana's Commission for Higher Education and the Ohio Board of Regents endorsed a reciprocity agreement for county residents and campuses on both sides of the Indiana/Ohio border.
Effective July 1, 2013, IPFW offers Indiana in-state, resident tuition rates to students in the following six counties in Ohio: Butler, Darke, Preble, Shelby, Mercer, and Van Wert.
This purpose of this tuition reciprocity agreement is to expand higher education opportunities across the Indiana/Ohio border while limiting the cost of such expansion through collaboration among public institutions.
“Conversations about establishing reciprocity began years ago to give students in Ohio border counties the opportunity to choose IPFW as their college of choice, without having to pay out-of-state tuition rates due to proximity of location,” said Chancellor Vicky Carwein. “This is a win-win situation for students looking for a college near home with affordable tuition and we are very pleased to be included in the new reciprocity agreement.”
