News Release 

Beth Van Why has joined the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites (ISMHS) as Associate Vice President of Exhibitions. Beth comes to ISMHS after serving as the Director of Exhibition Operations at the National Constitution Center (NCC) in Philadelphia, PA, a private non-profit museum dedicated to non-partisan constitutional education and debate. She also served as a part-time Associate Professor in museum studies, design, and multimedia at the University of the Arts and as an Adjunct Professor in graphic design at Drexel University.

Prior to working at the NCC, Beth was the Programming Director at DesignPhiladelphia, a city-wide design festival featuring 100+ events each year. She also coordinated the Philadelphia Applied Research Lab, was a Project Director and co-founder of Urban Studio: Design Works, and taught at a variety of universities in Philadelphia. 

She holds a masters of industrial design from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA and a bachelor of architecture and history minor from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. She has also studied printmaking, book arts, and fabrication and is a practicing artist and maker.

Beth will oversee the design and implementation of exhibitions and gallery renovations related to art, history, and natural science at the museum and eleven historic sites. She is excited to join the team at ISMHS and is looking forward to being involved in the many exciting projects. New to Indianapolis, she’s also eager to get to know the city and become more involved in the local community.
