Purdue University President Mitch Daniels says he trusts IPFW Chancellor Vicky Carwein and other school leaders to address a nearly $9 million deficit. Daniels tells our partners at 21 Alive in Fort Wayne he doesn't believe reserve funds should be used to bridge the gap.
Daniels says declining enrollment has caused some of the financial issues at IPFW. He says the change in student demand is "the new reality" because the school no longer offers associate degrees or remediation. Daniels believes that drives more potential students to Ivy Tech Community College.
The Purdue University Board of Trustees are meeting IPFW this week for the first time since Daniels and Carwein took their positions.
