Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) is shortening the work week at its Columbus fuel systems plant from five days to four until further notice. The engine manufacturer says the move is among several steps it has taken over the last few months to better align costs with decreasing global demand.

As a result of the recent weakening global economic conditions, Cummins has been taking a number of steps over the last few months to respond appropriately and align its costs with the decreasing demand. Today, the Fuel Systems Plant in Columbus announced that due to impacts on demand, it will decrease the work week from five to four days until further notice. We will continue to monitor the changing conditions and appreciate the hard work and dedication of the Cummins employees.
